On September 28, Design Life Now will open at the Boston Institute of Comtemporary Art (ICA) in Boston, where it will be on view through January 6. The installation is being designed by Michael Meredith, who is featured in the exhibition. Hear Michael talk about his work on our Triennial podcast.
For those of us who saw the Triennial in New York, it will be exciting to see it installed in the wonderful new ICA building, designed by Diller Scofidio and Renfro. If you never got to see the exhibition, here’s a great opportunity.
Ms. Lupton,
I am a big fan of yours from my very illustrious academic career in South Hampton Roads colleges. I began my journey into Graphic Design in August of 2000 at the Visual Arts Center in Portsmouth, VA. After graduating from there in 2004 I decided to transfer to ODU in Norfolk, VA. I entered the Graphic Design dept. and attempted to graduate in a reasonable amount of time, but to no avail. One of the things that I did appreciate at ODU was in Graphic Design 1 we learned about a very good internet radio show called “Design Matters”. We had to produce 3 posters that were promotional pieces for the show and my portraits for the posters were sometimes kind of “different looking”. I decided to use yourself, Carin Goldberg, and William Lunderman. My worst portrait was William Lunderman and then I attempted to create a decent picture of you, but most of that was unsuccessful. Carin Goldberg had a very amusing interview and when I attempted to create her portrait it came out reasonably well. You gave me inspiration to go forward into Graphic Design with your interview on “Design Matters” and the elitist attitudes of some of the Graphic Designers out there, so thank you very much. Here are some of my pictures that I have created throughout my time in school and I hope you enjoy them and if not please let me know. http://www.neblittdesign.com
